A Great Book

My first question when I read a book like this is...How does something like genocide still happen in our world today? And then I ask...Why...why do people do this?
This book is amazing. Although it doesn't exactly answer my questions as stated above it does help me regain my faith in humanity! At first I thought I wouldn't like this book because it would be depressing to hear about the massacre in Rwanda. But it turned out the focus of the book wasn't on the horrible atrocities that took place there, but more about the faith it took to survive it. It shows how people can overcome the worst type of adversity and still go on to have happy, faith filled lives. I very much recommend this book!

Hang'in In There!

This summer has been filled with otter pops, little boy bikes and the beloved sandbox. But all good things must come to an end and now we are ready to start pre-school. Abe is so excited to be starting pre-school this fall, (and so is Mom!) The school he will be going to has an animal/safari theme. It was meet the teacher day and Abe got a little safari hat and binoculars and spent the rest of the day with his friends hunting for bugs and wild animals!
Cason is sweet baby. I just love him. However, we are still trying to get the sleep thing down. Some nights are horrible where he wakes up every hour. (Those are really bad nights!) And some nights are a little better.
I swear Bella gets more energy everyday. She's talking so much and running everywhere. She hates to wear pants and shoes. I'm hoping when it gets colder it won't be so much of a fight to get to ready in the morning. This summer I really tried to be the "Shoe Nazi" and make her wear them but we kept losing shoes, so I've since given up.

Welcome Home Cason
We were able to bring Cason home on Sunday night. His breathing had greatly improved and he showed that he could eat and breath at the same time, so the Doctors gave the stamp of approval and sent him home. We are so lucky to have worked with such great doctors and nurses who really cared for Cason. And now we couldn't be happier to have him home.
Abe and Bella are both great with Cason. They both like to kiss him and touch his soft skin. We were lucky to have Daleen and Brian stay with the kids, and then Grandpa Scott and Grandma Kim stay with us and watch kids as Darren and I shuffled back and forth from hospital to home and then as we finally brought Cason home.
Cason is a good baby, just so sweet. Darren thinks he looks like a Nydegger baby and we all agree that he looks like my brother Alan as a baby. (We got out the old photo albums to discover this!)
Again a big thanks to all our friends, neighbors, and family for your service, thoughts and prayers. We are just so happy to have Cason home!

Happy Birthday Cason
Cason Scott Rosenlund was born Monday July 21st. Despite being born two and half weeks early he still weighed 8 lbs, 2 oz and was 18 inches long. As soon as he was born he had trouble breathing on his own. I got to hold him for a second but he was taken to the nursery right away and then later that night at about two in the morning they transferred him to the NICU at a different hospital where they have better ventilators. It's been hard see him struggle through this but he is doing much better now and we are hopeful that he will be able to come home in just a couple days. We were able to hold him for the first time last night and he is such a sweet baby. We love him so much.
We are so grateful to family and friends who have watched Abe and Bella for us, brought us food and gifts, mowed our lawn and have just showed us so much concern. Sorry I haven't been able to respond to everyone's phone calls, please know how grateful I am to have such caring friends, neighbors and family.
