Alan sent me some photos from Afghanistan and although he's not in any of them I thought it might be interesting to some on you to see where he is and what he's doing. If anyone wants his email address let me know and I'll pass that on to you. Alan says he is doing well, that he flies every couple of days and that he misses his family. He says that his helicopter hasn't taken any fire, but that he has seen his wingman take some ground fire. He says that the threat is real there and that his base has received some rocket and mortar attacks. The building he stays in is made of concrete and that he feels somewhat safe, although he did say that they found a cobra snake not too far from his bed. Crazy!!!

The type of helicopter that Alan flies is called a Chinook.

The Kite Runner

This month I was the hostess for our neighborhood book club. I had never read this book and didn't know much about it but chose it anyway. It was a hard book to read, but so good. It was interesting to read about the modern history of Afganistan, specically the Russion invasion and the rule of the Taliban. The book was well written and story was almost haunting. It's a chilling story that will stay with me, but a book I don't think I could read again.
It was a great book to discuss in a book group. And after venting about all the saddness of the story I realized how it was great story about father/son relationships. Hassan, who was abused and discriminated against survived because of the love and relationship he had with his father and then later as a father. So much to talk about with this book, so many details. I hope you read it...

Shoes, Shoes, Shoes

I am now a shoe saleman! I know, very glamerous, but I actually really like it. I love the business side to it and I can wear cute, new shoes all the time. Here is a preview of what we have, but check out my website to see the rest of the fabulous shoes we have!

Big Kids!
These kids just keep growing and growing! Both Abe and Bella are so sweet. Abe loves to play baseball and ride his new "big boy" bike outside. Bella is the happiest little girl we know. She's a little explorer and loves to climb on everything.
